Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Directed by George Romero and starring Duane Johnson and Judith O’Dea, would give rise to the independent horror. The film was made for $110,000 and shot outside of Philadephia. The film would gross $30million upon its release. A cult classic today and highly regarded as one of the best horror films of all time, upon its initial release, the critics were less than favourable.
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
The 1985 American comedy horror film written and directed by Dan O’Bannon and starring Clu Gulagar, Thom Matthews and Linnea Quigley. The film is the first film that would introduce some Zombie tropes such as fast moving, able to talk and the hunger for brains. The soundtrack which includes bands such as The Cramps, The Damned, The Flesh Eaters and SSQ is considered one of the best post punk soundtracks of all times.
